We are currently in the process of applying for our first round of funding to launch our primary project in North Cornwall (see description below). If you would like to register for the waitlist to take part, you can do this on the home page. In the mean time, we are holding small focus groups and events, lead by volunteers, to trial elements of our project plans and improve our services. If you would like to get involved please contact us by email or social media, the more the merrier.
Our first grant application hopes to see funding for a two-part creative movement and dance project. This will run in two six-week blocks.
Block one aims to equip the participants with the fundamental knowledge and skills needed to keep them safe while moving, playing, and creating. Fostering a sense of community, increasing confidence, communication skills, and positive self-talk.
Block two is centred around learning structured dance motifs and collaborating with others in the group. Focusing on dance as a medium for self-expression, mindfulness, and collaborative creativity. We will also be preparing our clients for their future outside of the project.
By the end of the 12 sessions, participants will see improvements to their mental and physical health, have new friends within their support network, and new skills to help them process future challenges. Should they wish to continue using dance as a tool for their development they will be well prepared to explore the world of dance further through links to local classes and guidance around personal practice. Participants will also be invited to join us in our secondary project (see below).
Our second project is an opportunity for those who participated in the primary projects to explore dance as a performance art, with an organized performance to take part in at the end of the block.
For this, the group will work with their creative practitioner to devise a group piece, telling a story of their collective choice through self-expression. Bringing communities together, boosting confidence and self-esteem.
We are currently setting plans to facilitate regular weekly group games sessions for adults, inspired by traditional British PE games like Bulldog, Dodgeball and Capture The Flag, but with a fun and creative twist. These playful sessions will be low-cost or free of charge and help to connect and uplift the community. This is likely to launch midway through 2025.
At this time we are unable to share more, but please check back on this space for updates.
We plan to establish small group sessions for adults to learn and explore non-aerial circus arts like plate spinning, juggling, diablo, poi, flower sticks, and much more. These unique sessions will be free of charge and help to build confidence, and self-worth, while improving dexterity, coordination and creative thinking skills. This is likely to launch in 2026.
