Who We Are

Untangle Creative Movement Collective is a CIC (community interest company). We strive to improve the wellbeing and mental health of adults in rural communities through a variety of creative movement projects and activities.

We work with local social prescribing link workers, charities and directly with individuals, to reach those who may benefit from our services. Securing a place in our projects and activities is easy, simply complete the referral form below for yourself or someone under your care and send it back to us at admin@untangle-cmc.co.uk

Participants need no prior experience of sport or dance, just a positive attitude towards learning, playing and creating with others, under the guidance of the session leader.

Why dance and creative movement?

Exercise is scientifically proven to help reduce symptoms of stress, anxiety, depression and other forms of mental ill health. But going on a run or joining a gym can be daunting, boring and challenging for many of us. Moving our bodies doesn't have to look like this though, creative movement is a fun, social and playful way to work on your mental health and fitness without even realising you're doing it! There's plenty of room for self expression, it's inexpensive and adaptable to suit your needs.

Mental Health

Dance and creative movement stimulates cognitive function and can boost your confidence, feelings of self-worth and appreciation for your body.

Physical Health

Dance and some other forms of creative movement count as aerobic exercise that contributes to a healthy heart and lungs, weight loss / weight management, and stronger bones. It also builds muscle tone and strength, improves coordination, balance, flexibility and agility.

Future Independence

Dance and creative movement has been proven to slow down the decline in patients with early Parkinson's and dementia. It is also valuable in preventing slips, trips and falls as it equips people with quicker reactions and improved agility.

Social Skills

Dance and creative movement games teach many transferable skills like team work, listening, communication, memory recall and confidence socialising.
